Tentative Itinerary

Though we have chosen a specific and careful itinerary, weather and other forces beyond our control can change our plans, so be flexible and keep your sense of adventure.

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi, pick up and transfer to the hotel. Welcome dinner and meet trip leader for trip briefing. Spend your free time discovering Hanoi. Overnight at the hotel in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi- Halong
Pick up at the hotel and drive to Halong Bay. Arrive Halong Bay around noon and board a traditional red-sailed junk for a seafood lunch while sailing on the bay. After lunch, you'll receive instructions on kayaking techniques and safety procedures. Start 2.5 hour paddling trip around Van Gio Island where we will swim in the South China Sea before returning to our "mother ship" for dinner and overnight.

Days 3 to 6: Kayaking on Halong Bay
Spend four magical days exploring the hidden spots of legendary Halong Bay. Visit nomadic traditional fishing villages, paddle into splendid sea-caves, discover exquisite lagoons, and gaze upon dream-like sheer limestone islets soaring above the sheltered sea. Each night we will return to the "mother ship" where a chef will prepare the most amazing seafood dishes and tend to your every need.

Day 7: Halong- Hanoi
We cruise back to Halong City in the morning then drive back to Hanoi. Free time to discover Hanoi. Dinner at a restaurant and overnight at a hotel in Hanoi.

Day 8: Hanoi- Ba be National Park
We drive north about six hours (280km) to Ba Be National Park, situated in Bac Kan province of northern Vietnam. Ba Be, a relic of natural lower mountain forests. The park’s densely forested area is a refuge for unique flora and fauna (410 plant species and 300 wildlife species), and surrounds the only natural lake in Vietnam (it is actually three linked lakes). The area is home to Tay, Hmong, Dao, and Nung ethnic groups, who have lived on the shore of the lake and in the surrounding mountains for hundreds of years.

Day 9: Ba be National ParkToday we'll visit a local market and hike along the trails of Ba Be National Park stopping to visit one of the most beautiful water fall in Vietnam. We'll be birdwatching and searching for butterflies and possibly swimming in a river or lake. Overnight at the village.

Days 10 : Ba be National Park
Full day hiking up to the most isolated village of Dao Ethnic minority up on the top of the mountain. Return Overnight at hotel in the park.

Day 11:
Ba Be National National Park

The many limestone mountains surrounding Ba Be have numerous caves and under-streams, including the Nang River, which flows through the 100-foot-high, 1,000-foot-long Puong Cave all the way to Ba Be Lake. Today we’ll paddle an inflatable kayak right through the cave on a navigable 15-km section of the river. Lunch at Mr. Pirate’s restaurant and follow by an easy walk down to Water Fall. Kayaking back to the lake and a great chance for a swim to get fresh before returning to the village. Farewell dinner with our host family. Overnight in the village. Depart from Hanoi.

Day 12
Drive back to Hanoi. Farewell dinner for whole group and overnight in Hanoi. End of main trip.

Day 13
