This American Canoe Association Level 2 Course is intended for paddlers who would like to lead others in protected waters. Those who seek to guide trips professionally, take friends out on the water, or are interested in becoming an instructor are encouraged to register.
This two day course will include coaching and evaluation of the technical skills, leadership, and knowledge necessary to lead a group of paddlers in calm conditions (less than 10 kt winds, 1' seas, 1' breaking waves, and 1 kt of current).
Candidates will have opportunities to demonstrate their paddling prowess, group awareness and management, decision making, incident mitigation and management, and basic navigation & VHF communication skills through a variety of exercises, leadership challenges, and short presentations.
Class Duration: Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end by 5:00 pm (bring the appropriate food and water with you on the water)
